History

Thames Centre was created in 2001 through the amalgamation of the Townships of North Dorchester and West Nissouri.

Each township had its own fire department, the North Dorchester Township Fire Department in Dorchester and West Nissouri Township Fire Department in Thorndale.

Located immediately east of London, the municipality has a population of 13,000.
