Guelph/Eramosa Township was formed in 1999 through the amalgamation of Eramosa Township, Guelph Township and a portion of Puslinch Township.

Prior to amalgamation, the Eramosa Township Fire Department operated out of Rockwood. Guelph Township was covered by the Guelph Fire Department.
