History
The Municipality of Grey Highlands was formed in 2001 when the Village of Markdale amalgamated with the Townships of Artemesia, Euphrasia and Osprey. Two fire departments were involved - the Markdale & Area Fire Department and the Flesherton-Artemesia Fire Department. The departments operated individually for a few years after the merger, but were themselves amalgamated into one.
