Overview[]

The WCDES is a countywide agency that handles many duties, including: 911 dispatching & emergency communications (known as 60 Control), operating haz-mat & technical rescue teams, providing fire protection to the nearly 400-acre Grasslands county government complex in Valhalla (including a prison, a large hospital & associated medical school, a water treatment facility, the county's bus and public works garages, and many other smaller buildings), operating the county's fire training academy, providing an ALS flycar paramedic intercept service, assisting with fire investigations, and acts as the county's emergency management agency.
