Canadian Forces Base Edmonton is a military base located north of Edmonton, Alberta. The current base site was formerly CFB Namao, an air transport base. The base runways remain, but are not used. CFB Edmonton is home to the 1st and 3rd Battalions of the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry Regiment, Lord Strathcona's Horse armoured regiment, a combat engineer regiment, 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron flying the CH-146 Griffon and support units. Overall, CFB Edmonton is home to approximately 5000 military personnel and 500 civilian employees.
